Frequently Asked Questions
How are alerts reported? Each user is given a telephone number to call. When calling this number the system checks to see if they are really a subscriber. If they are a subscriber, then their call is routed to our call center where a live person takes the report and sends out the alerts. Non-subscribers calling this number will be told to sign up.
I am a subscriber, why am I being told to sign up when I call in? There are three possible reasons for this. One being you may not be calling from the phone that you signed up with. In some areas, while your phone is roaming, proper authentication is not sent with the call. Please tell us if this ever happens to you. The last reason is that we may be working on something. We improve the service all the time and sometimes things are not updated yet.
I did not sign up for this, why are you sending me things? Someone may have signed you up without asking. Usually it is the person that you live with. If you feel there is an actual error, please contact us.
Why am I getting 100's of copies of this a text message? This happened to our lead developer while we were beta testing. He freaked out and thought it was the changes he had made the previous day. This wasn't the case the real problem was that his cell phone had a bad registration with a tower. The phone was not responding that it had recieved the text message. After pulling out the battery and restarting the phone, the problem was solved. With a quick call to his cell phone carrier, the extra charges for over 1000 text messages were removed.
